Seacoast United Storm coach Darrell Betley will be running the Big Lake Half Marathon on May 9th to raise funds for the Bob Masi Soccer Scholarship Fund. As a soccer coach and soccer enthusiast, he wishes everybody to be able to play and learn the game of soccer and to maybe love the game as much as he does.
Sports in general can be very expensive and soccer is no exception. Seacoast United offers a fantastic opportunity for kids to play, grow as soccer players, and compete against the best competition in New England. The Bob Masi fund helps families who need a little bit of financial support in order for their kids to play soccer not only for Seacoast United, but for local town/travel programs as well.
No child should be denied the chance to play sports. That reason alone is why Darrell is raising money for the Scholarship fund.
"I don’t want to see any kid lose interest in soccer because they can’t afford to play," commented Darrell.
This is the first time he has ever attempted to run 13.1 miles and he is very much up for the challenge.
"Hopefully I can raise a lot of money for the Scholarship fund and see the proceeds be put to great use," he added.
